Rome Consensus 2.0 on International Overdose Awareness Day 2021

Dear Rome Consensus friends and supporters,

There is less than 1 month until August 31st, International Overdose Awareness Day.

There is still so much we can achieve together and this year we will be joining the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose, raise awareness and remember without stigma those who have died.

The Rome Consensus 2.0 will join the Penington Institute’s global campaign through social media. We created several videos about Overdose Awareness that will be shared on a weekly basis between now and August 31st.

This week, we are pleased to share our first two videos with you! Thanks to Dr. Massimo Barra, IFRC special envoy for health, founder of Fondazione Villa Maraini, the National Agency of the Italian Red Cross for pathological addictions and creator of the Rome Consensus and to Ms. Giovanna Campello, chief at UNODC Prevention, Treatment & Rehabilitation Section for supporting this initiative on International Overdose Awareness Day 2021!

We encourage you to share the videos through social media and don’t forget to tag our accounts on Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn and to use the hashtags #HumanitarianDrugPolicy and #IOAD2021.

Rome Consensus 2.0 is a Humanitarian Drug Policy alliance, a call from professionals to governments to make urgent moves towards health and human rights based approaches. The Humanitarian Drug Policy’s primary objective is to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain human dignity by fighting social, legal and cultural criminalization of people who use drugs.

Help us to spread the Rome Consensus 2.0 towards a #HumanitarianDrugPolicy by signing our declaration:

Please stay in touch and let us know what you have planned for August 31st this year, and together we can continue to promote and grow the Rome Consensus 2.0:

towards a Humanitarian Drug Policy.
Warm regards,
the Rome Consensus 2.0 team
