The ERNA network is glad to invite RCRC National Societies to a virtual Side Event scheduled on Friday the 16th of April, at 14.10 (CET), during the 64th session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs entitles: “Moving beyond the divisions, in order to develop humanitarian drug policy: the role of the Rome Consensus 2.0 initiative”.
It’s been already 1 year since The Rome Consensus 2.0 statement was launched at the 63rd CND, during which it has been positively endorsed by the UNODC, WHO, and the Italian Government. Despite these difficult times due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this multi-partners initiative is growing under the common purpose of implementing humanitarian drug policies.
The statement has been signed by more than 120 Organizations worldwide and by hundreds of people, professionals, and activists from more than 25 different countries.
Best practices from the field will also show the crucial role of community health workers and volunteers in humanitarian assistance by tackling drug disorders with a health-centered approach, reducing the harm and stigma at the community level, and facilitating access to treatment.
