Whether Red Cross and Red Crescent do enough to live in the world free of tuberculosis?

TB Kills: 1.4 Million People Every Year,Over 3,800 Every Day,One Person Every 25 Seconds.

World TB Day 24 March raises awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis (TB) and efforts to eliminate the disease. One-third of the world’s population is currently infected with TB.

The World TB Day Campaign 2012 allows people all over the world to make an individual call to stop TB in their lifetimes.

In their lifetimes, today’s children should expect to see a world where no one gets sick with TB.

In their lifetimes, women and men should expect to see a world where no one dies from TB.

People of different ages and living in different countries could have these hopes for stopping TB in their lifetimes:

  • Zero deaths from TB
  • Faster treatment
  • A quick, cheap, low-tech test
  • An effective vaccine
  • A world free of TB

Where Red Cross and Red Crescent can be more useful?

We can increase our TB-activities in:

  • identifying vulnerable groups,
  • providing effective health education
  • finding those in need of treatment
  • making sure that patients follow the treatment
  • helping patients to get enough good quality food
  • being there for patients when they have questions or need someone to talk to
  • communicating with national authorities, policy-makers and the public to ensure that the necessary resources are available to control TB.

LET’S DO MORE TO LIVE IN THE WORLD FREE OF TUBERCULOSIS!
