World AIDS Day 2022

Efforts by communities, governments, civil society, the private sector and global health partners have resulted in extraordinary progress in the fight against HIV.

In countries where the Global Fund invests, total AIDS-related deaths have dropped by 70% since the Global Fund was founded in 2002.

Of the 38.4 million people living with HIV, 28.7 million are on antiretroviral therapy today – 23.3 million in the countries where the Global Fund invests.

But our fight isn’t over. Today, our progress remains fragile and must be reinforced. New health crises are occurring at increasing frequency and health inequities are ever more starkly apparent.
